A quick non PHP specific question... I have a customer which is
interested on sending a large amount of emails (> 10,000) several
times a day to their member database. The emails have time
sensitive information, for which a timely delivery is important.
I suspect that in the mail delivery business, the problem is not
in the bandwidth (my emails will contain very short messages),
but in sendmail making contact and delivery of the mail to the
destination mail relays or servers.
If anybody has expirience in such matters, how fast can is server
on the average be expected to deliver emails (in emails per second?).
This should give me a rougth measure on how many server will be needed
to complete this task in less than 1 hour.
