ODBC ?? plz help

hi,

I had Apache + PHP3 + Mysql up and running perfectly on my windows system utill now 🙁

I did a format and now when I installed apache and php , as soon as I load a PHP3 file in the browser apache gives an error that odbc32.dll is missing.

first of all this file has never been missing before and I thought it was a standard windows file.. but ok, I found a odbc32.dll on my other system and copied it into windows/system and now when i load a php3 page it starts loading it and keeps loading. Browser says website found but stays like that all the time ... while its a local server so should load it imediately.

same thing if i place the odbc32.dll in the php dir.

In the php.ini file odbc is disabled so i realy dont get it.

could someone plz help me, I never had these problems before and alwayes installed it sucsessfully without having to copy any odbc32.dll file. So i have no clue what is different this time 🙁

I found the solution for this problem in a database package called Mdac from the microsoft site.

For those of you who want to know the answer 🙂

Joni,

The most logical reason I can think of why you had the problem was this.

The last time you installed php, you had been using the system for a while, right? It's possible that whatever file placement you were missing after the format was placed there before the origional install, hence, no errors. After formatting, an immediate install of php might not have worked without that. I was actually going to suggest going to the microsoft site and grabbing that pack.

Congrats on a good slueth there - The same problem took me a week to fix!
(I broke several things in the process too - had to get a new TV)
