I've been hearing all the hype about Linux for some time now so I thought it was about time I gave it a go.
I got a linux magazine that came with a free CD which has .Storm 2000 on it, so I thought I'd stick it on my laptop for a trial.
The laptop is an Acer 503dx which is a Pentium 300 with 64mb ram and 3gb hard drive.
I booted from the cd and went through the set up (twice) and then it said "now restart your computer"...which I did.....I select LINUX from the menu and then it shows a boot up screen and then stops?
I went to the manufacturer's site www.stormix.com and low and behold there is no support for installations or anything.
Questions:
Is this an ok OP system to try out as a first go?
Is the problem a confliction with my laptop?
Did I miss something really obvious? (I am a windows user)
Is Linux really worth the hassle?
Look forward to hearing all of your replies as I know most of you are keen Linux supporters!
