getting help in start

please help me
I am learning php now .Today only I did one simple program but if I tried to open it in netscape it opens the source file directly .I didn't understand the problem?
Please tell me if we have to save it at particular location or what?
Pl. help me

Neha,

The only way a php file would show the source code when opened in a borwser is if either the file is not named *.php, or if php is not installed on the server. Hence, if you try to open the file off of your computer in your browser, the source will show.
Verify with your hos that PHP is installed and functioning properly

Thanks, for replying me. I follwed yr steps. But still getting problem to view files. Please do one favour , u pl. specify what other s/w r required to install php.
I have win95 , Personal web Server. I followed all the steps that comes along with the zip file (specified in readme).
