Again on mail()

I tried the mail() function on my computer and works great, but when I tried on diffrent server it doesn't send mail nor give any message. I notice the one that works has apache runs as root and the one that doesn't has apache runs as nobody. How can I solve this ? I need to use mail function with the server set to run as user nobody.

Before someone else bothered to respond. I have solved the problem. It was NOT because apache runs as nobody or root, but because I left the entry on sendmail in php3.ini empty whereas the other point to /usr/sbin/sendmail.

Much too my surprise, the one which I left it empty is working. Why ?

Perhaps sendmail is in the path? On the machine where mail doesn't work, is sendmail actually running?
