GUI PHP coding utilities?

ok, so I currently do all of my coding in vi on a linux box. after just completing a very large project I am wondering if there are any nice GUI utilities out there for coding PHP? macromedia has their ultradev which handles ASP, but I would rather stick with PHP.

Are you stuck on a Linux Box? Allaire's Homesite for Windows has a a great color codong feature that allowas you to color code your php scripts and assign colors to different elements ie variables, functions, strings etc. But I am pretty sure there is no PHP tool that has built in objets and functions and crap like that!

wouldn't say I am 'stuck' on a linux box, but can wrestle up a windows one if needed. :-) hear good things about homesite, will look at it. think I may end up with dreamweaver if nothing else. could of sworn I remember seeing an open source PHP coding utility out there.

Oh yeah there is one iTs called PHPed, I meant no harm by the 'stuck' comment, I meant more for developing not serving. Also Dreamweaver is okay for site management and ease of coding but it doesn't have the color coding that Homesite has, which can really be nice. IN Dreamy the php code is all this dark grey on a light gray background.

ok, thanks for the info!! will look at homesite then. pcmagazine gave rave reviews to dreamweaver so was looking at it, will step back a bit and check out homesite as well.

Take dreamweaver, it just so happens, that most retail boxed versions of dreamweaver come with full version of HomeSite 4.5, the newest version of HomeSite.

I purchased DreamWeaver and love it for it's support for layers, javascript behaviors and complete wysiwyg. But there's just no denying the need/enjoyment of a powerful source editor.

Now you get both.

Just be careful, some early boxed versions of DW3 didn't have Homesite.

Check out UltraEdit (www.ultraedit.com). It does all of the color coding with functions, file compare, etc. for MANY different languages, including PHP. Unfortunately it's only a windows program...
