Forced Browser Redirection?

Anyone know of a way to forcefully redirect a browser to a webpage?

Ex: Dave has a php chat going, and Bob comes into Dave's little chat program. Bob wants to know the best place to get answers to PHP questions. Dave sends Bob's browser over to phpbuilder - Bob doesn't click on a hyperlink or anything, he just "ends up there"... follow?

I'm thinking it would be done with a header() call, but haven't had any luck getting it to update a remote browser.

There are several applications out that allow you to "take over" someones browser. However, it is beyond the scope of PHP. There must be a persistant connection or a way to keep track of a visitors IP.

Many of the live chat "customer service" programs out are capable of this. I suggest you do a search for such programs.

Forgive me if I'm missing something here, or getting distracted by the particulars of your example, but if Bob can't handle clicking on a link to get to Dave's information, i.e.

Hey, Bob, check out phpbuilder.com for the best help on PHP

then I doubt that Bob is going to be able to make much use of the information he finds on phpbuilder.com once he's magically transported over here. Perhaps a different example would better show exactly what need you are trying to meet?

That's what I ended up using, although I just inserted a target="_new" in the tag. Works like a charm.
