I recently formatted my PC and now I can't find a win32 version of mysql.........where can I download a copy from?

Ehmm... http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-3.23/mysql-3.23.24-beta-win.zip maybe? This is however a beta release because of the recent switch to gpl... Anyway, you should be using unix instead :-P

Well bugger me.....I didn't even think to look at versions 3.23 I was only looking at 3.22 and 3.21, which there don't seem to be anymore copies for win32....unless I am looking in the wrong place...?
