Has anyone been able to implement sms text messaging using php? I have seen a site called www.sms.gate.ru which uses php but I can't read russian and obviously I can't see the php files......I'd love to find out more on how to send text messages from a website.

You can usually send SMS messages by sending an email to: 'phonenumber'@.'phonenetworkprovider'.'nation of phone service provider'...
Usually only the subject line of the email is sent and the sender adress might look strange on the phone..

Well. My cell phone has number 2617xxxx and can be reached via 2617xxxx@sms.mobilix.dk
So all email sent to the above address will arrive as an SMS message on my phone..
IF my number was 2294xxxx I could see that it is a number used by the operator Sonofon.. The SMS-email address would then be: 2294xxxx@note.sonofon.dk (For some reason Sonofon won't use sms as everybody else)..
Here in Denmark you can find listings of which numberseries belongs to which cellphone operators, at Telestyrelsen http://www.tst.dk/index.asp?language=dk&getframe=http://www.tst.dk/dk/nummerforhold/nummerlister.htm
The link bove will take you to their page with axx to a couple of PDF files showing the nummber listings..

Just a few pointers,
If you are residing in the US, yahoo does forward emails received to your mobile phone. Well, at least sprint does it.
If you are in the UK, check out www.genie.co.uk. They do sms forwarding too.
Anyone knows one in sweden? I've tried all different addresses but no one seems to work... =(

You can send SMS thru gate.ru by sending email like this:
numberwithareacode@sms.gate.ru
example: 123235346@sms.gate.ru
Don't forget area code!
But they have limited the messages you can send to one phone. (it was 5 if i'm not wrong).

Yeah I already tried that but I must be too far away.....I tried a New Zealand number and it didn't work!
By the way (anyone) I have found a perl script which apparently has hacked into www.mtn.co.za and allows you to send sms messages off of your site via their gateway......but I was unable to get it to work cos' I don't know perl. If anyones interested in the script I can have a search around for it again.....maybe someone else can understand it?
