Damn mail()

I know there have been loads of queries about mail() (surprisingly so considering its supposed to be such an easy thing...). But none of them (and I searched loads) seemed to solve my problem.

I'm running apache on a Solaris box with PHP 4.0.2. And I can't for the life of my seem to be able to get mail() to send anything. I have altered php.ini to point to sendmail. I have passed 4 parameters instead of 3. I have stood on one leg with a dead chichken on my head...

If anybody has any solutions to my problems I will love them long time.

Is the sendmail configuration known to work on that machine? I banged my head a while until I fugured out sendmail wasn't enabled on my php/apache server. So I pointed to another box which was running sendmail and BINGO!

It is also possible the sendmail configuration is ignoring you due to a configuration setting. (Perhaps you made the spam list!?)

A quick look at <http://bugs.php.net/bugs.php> shows a few mail related bugs on Solaris. You might want to verify that none of these bugs apply to your situation.

Or you could always switch to turkey. Quite a few cults have moved to using turkey, rather than chicken, due to over-use of "The Mighty Chicken Soul".

To at least attempt at being helpful, you might want to check Solaris' site (I assume they have one...lol) and see if anyone in their forums reported a problem with PHP or mail functions.
