Strange problems loading pages...very strange...

Hi,

I've strange problems with php4.

When I connect to a site for the first
time, the page sometimes crashes.

Then I reload it and It seems to work
until I quit the browser.

If I lunch the browser again It happens.

What could It be. The scripts are
sintactically correct.

Tell us more about what happens when the page "crashes"

The parser doesn't crash, but the
output is a dirty page with dirty
chars mixed with correct html.

So It happens that the page layout
collapse and you see fragged html
tags all around the page. You can
try:

www.ibasket.it

You reload the page and magically
all seem to work.... until you quit
the browser.

It happens with bot IE and Navigator
so the problem must be in PHP.

Do you use any cookies or sessions?

Try loading the "crashed" page, and run the html source of that page
through an html validator to see what is wrong with the html that your php creates.

Sometimes leaving out a single ">" can mess your page up bigtime.

Does any of the html depend on the content of the session?

Brainstorm mode:
Is it possible that your page has parts in it that get printed only if the session data contains some value, but that value gets set after you check for it?

I localized the problem....
It's in sessions!!

I don't use session dependent content.
I just commented out session_start()
in my header file and...
magically all problems disappeard.

No I don't need session now, but I will
use it soon.

How can session crash my pages?
I think the problem is in PHP 4.0.2.
