Php wizards,
I am doing a very simple interface for uploading images into the mysql database via a form and then displaying those images in a html page.
The problem:
I want my images to be: 200 by 200 pixels and 96dpi resolution. Is there any way of setting this to any image the user uploads before uploading it to my database? (of course if the image has these proportions)

I know how to make your image into a specific size but not resolution.

I have just written a script to upload an image, duplicate it into a thumbnail and a large image then insert into a db. It works too! but if you read my previous post, i am loosing image quality

what gd version do you have?

Sure, php's image control functions can do that for you.
Just make sure your php/gd supports JPG.

And about dpi, only dtp formats (like psd) support a dpi setting,
JPG is just X by Y pixels.
You can interpret that as 96 dpi or 72 or 300 if you wish.

About dpi:
Thanx a lot for the information, it's true that jpeg's don't have this resolution issue.
JPEGS have a copression setting, can you control that with php too?

Hmm I feel a "RTFM" coming on... :-)

To open a jpeg image:
ImageCreateFromJpeg()

To resize:
ImageCopyResized()

To make a new Jpeg:
ImageJPEG()

The manual will tell you how to set the quality.

I hope I haven't angered the php gods with my lack of research. I will consult the holy manual and hope not to get this RTFM that sounds particularly nasty.
