forceing download w/ header()

I am using a php script that generates a NEW php script. i dont have a problem generating the code, but i want to have the save dialog open so that the file isn't viewed, its saved. Ive tryed many content types, "application/x-ms-download", "application/download", "application/zip" even but i cant get a dialog to appear, it just runs the script that it loaded it. if you can help, please do.

Setting the content disposition works better, at least in IE.

Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=file.ext

my problem is:

i don't want to see the dialog while download. i will specify directory path in that it should save the data.if you have solution please do.

Hi, i'm working on a web ftp script and i want the user to click on a little button next to a file name. this will then bring up the Save as... dialog box.

i'm kinda shaky on headers and what not so if anyone can help the more detail the better.
