Hello,
I have been developing php for a few months now and I have to say I am in love. I have setup a dedicated server on which I develop on. I have a static IP and telnet to the box from diffeerent locations to develop. I am looking to design a php-mysql based website but I need a place to host it.
I am looking for an environment similar to what I am used to. i.e. being able to telnet in and create and manage databases, .php files .htaccess files etc.

Can some one reccomend a company that offers good php4/mysql webhosting?
I have looked on the web but would like a reccomendation from someone with experience.

Surecity/space have now got their act together and are sorting their service out which has included updating to PHP4 (you already get MySQL). Its free so why not have a look at www.surecity.com.

Absolutely the best resource for finding a good host I've seen.

Thousands of entrys, easily searchable, etc.

The best I've personally found is http://www.elitehosts.com/

Mainly due to pricing and my conversations with some of their technical support reps. Very friendly, especially for web hosts 🙂

My name is shiv, I am from England. I to have been using php / mysql. I have my own web server which I built and running redhat linux php3 and mysql with apache. I have my own business web site www.shivajewellers.co.uk . I have programmed this website using php3 with a database using mysql. check it out! My hosting company is www.webfusion.co.uk
They are realy good. They run php3 now php4 and MySQL and also ASP. You can use telnet with webfusion.
