Hi, I\'m wondering if there\'s a workaround for a host not having Apache setup to send .php files through the PHP parser OTHER THAN the AddType in an .htaccess file trick, already tried that.

Nope. You need a more receptive host.
Your host should do this for you. Its not a major problem and only takes a couple of minutes to do.
the .htaccess will work only if the host allows the use of .htaccess
There is no other method you can use
