Small problem

I just installed Phorum on my linux box at work. It's running Red Hat 6.2, MySQL, Apache, and PHP 4.0.2

The info file looks good:

http://128.146.67.169/info.php

But in this directory, I have index.php:

http://128.146.67.169/peart/phorum-3.2.1/

Yet, when I access the page, it just gives me the directory listing. How can I get it to automatically use index.php?

Sounds like a server configuration problem. You are using Apache, so check your configuration file (srm.conf ?). Look for the "DirectorIndex" directive and set it to "index.php".

I checked the Apache config file, and the DirecotryIndex is set to index.html...should I add index.php, or just change index.html to index.php?

Depends on your standards. On my system, I just changed it to "index.php"

I just make sure all my main pages are named that way, even if they don't have any php code in it (they work anyway).

If you need both, I think you can specify both seperated by comma and it will look for the first and then the second if the first isn't found; but you will have to check the manual on that one...

Renaming all of the index files to index.php works but its not necessary.

in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

modfiy line 451 ? to read:
"DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php"

that way it'll handle php & html files and also files uploaded from windows users.
