Session is enabled, but not working

I use PHP 4 on FreeBSD and wrote some code similar to this:
File1.php
<?
session_start();
session_register("a");
?>

File2.php
<?
session_start();
echo $a;
session_unregister("a");
?>

but it didn't work. I went to /tmp directory that PHP saves sess files and saw that it built one sess file for each .php file. Can you tell me a solution to this.

Hi,

should be working if u assign $a a value like this:

$a="hello";

session_start();
session_register("a");

echo("<a href=\"file2.php\">here</a>");

file2.php will output "hello"

I've tried 5 different session examples (like the one above) from this site, and other sites but it never works in my Netscape 4.08 version of netscape. IE always works. Any ideas on what would cause my netscape attempts to fail.

Thank god for that! I've actaully found someone who has the same symptoms. Sorry, I can't help, but I hope by adding my comments here, someone else will see there is more than one of us with this problem, we're not making it up and we both need answers asap?
