Live telecast of matches on the net ...

Can some one tell me how does live telecast of matches work on the net ....
(may be using real player (rm format))

I went to check because I'm curious too...

It seems to be just a video feed into a video capture card, which writes a file which gets broadcast by a RealServer as its written over x number of real player streams on the net.

If you need to do it for Business RealPLayer has a decent starters for $3000 and a more enterprise setup for like $12000 I think. (400 streams)

We were testing some of this technology and it seems like might expensive thing to do if you would like to do alot of streams. Also there are companies which will set all this up for you too if you are thinking of doing so. If you have further questions, just call real player people and they be happy to help you. They also have some demo cds you can get from them which actually work for 30 days 😉 Luke is right about his info though.. thats exactly how its done.. you get about 15 seconds of lag because it has to compress and send..
