php with a bad php support

I have a site wich has php enabled but only for files with .php3 extension.

Suppose I want to add a php tag in my index.html... It doesn't work! Because the interpreter only recognises commands in .php3 files...

How can I solve this? can anywone give me a hand?

Just rename your index html to index.php3
and everything will work fine...

Except your page probably won't load. Most web servers don't look for index.php3 as possible start files in a directory. Normally it's index.html or default.html.

You can create an htaccess file that tells the server to parse .html files as php, if you have the correct permissions. do a search on here because I don't have the correct syntax.

As far as I know, the syntax in the .htaccess file, which should be placed in the root directory for the website ist:

DirectoryIndex index.php3

i've figured it out also... .htaccess worked perfectly! i've just added a new mime type, and bam, it started interreting .html file too!
