sendmail still won't work

I tried sendmail in a PHP script a couple of days ago, when I uploaded it on my works webserver, it worked...but when I run it on my LAN linux machine (which also has apache, php and all) it wont.
I have included 'sendmail -t' to the php.ini file, and I did restart apache....but it still doesn't work.....can anyone help me out?

I got a problem somewhat like yours, im running WINNT 4 server (IIS4) with php4 and i cant send any mail at all, i've edited my php.ini to our outgoing SMTP server, but dont work.
Have you got an idea how to set up IIS4 to send mail???

Can you send mail from your linux machine using PINE or any other mail client to an outside address? Can you send mail to other user accounts on the linux box using one of those same email programs?

This may not be a PHP problem but an actual sendmail problem.

Some of the new LINUX distros don't use sendmail they use postfix. I just spent the last 2 days pulling my hair out with this problem. Check which package is installed (postfix or sendmail) if postfix is installed all you need to do is edit the php.ini file with the path /usr/sbin/sendmail unless you have /usr/sbin in your path. Then edit the /etc/postfix/main.cf --set "myhostname" to whatever that is. Then just start it up /usr/sbin/postfix start As soon as I did this the mail() began working fine.
