MySQL/PHP Search Engine (Part 2)

Hello,

I'm a 21 year old college student of Info Tech. and I have a project on creating a search engine using MySQL/PHP.
I already have the system and I'm having problems on how to make a typical search engine. Is there anyone here who have any script on how to make a search engine that would accept multiple queries thus making php search any part of the query onto the MySQL database on multiple columns. Then the page result would contain any part of the query, display the total number of results of the said queries, and below will display a "prev 123.... next" button such as between the prev and next would contain the total number of pages that the result have limiting them to 10 per page. Also the page would display, "You searched for: QUERIES and found NUMBER result."
I hope that someone there would give me some help regarding this matter, because It's almost a month that I've searched the web for tutorials but wouldn't lend me the needed info. Please email me at [e-mail], I'm desperate.

I'm currently working on the same type of engine. I will let you know that what you want is a major task (if you haven't already figured that one out yet).

If you wish, email me at [e-mail] and compare notes. I am already past the point of querying multiple fields in a record and moving into parsing query requests that include 'and,' 'or,' phrases and the like.

If I were you, I would install the 3.23.28 of mysql that supports full text indexing. Than you can do a MATCH on erveral fields and the best result will be first in output. Very neat thing !

What exactly do you mean by \"that would accept multiple queries\"?

hi, I am also working on the exact same thing....i do not need to support multiple queries, it would be nice though, but i do need to be able to distribute the results via multiple pages....please let me know if you find anything on that,
