Hi!
Documentum, a spin off of Xerox, is an Enterprise Document Management System frequently found in the pharmaceutical industry as well as other industries with heavy government regulation. Basically, it tracks revisions, stores & moves documents through a workflow in a way that satisfies many regulatory agencies. It is OK by itself, but it's true power lies as a foundation for custom KM applications. More information can be found at http://www.documentum.com.
I work for a large pharmaceutical company and have also been looking into integrating PHP & Documentum 4i. The approach we have been pondering is to allow PHP to access Documentum through the documentum client libraries (DMCL), just as PHP accesses Oracle through it's client libraries. Unfortunately, we're not such hot C programmers.
Documentum offers their own web applications and WDK, but they rely heavily on JAVA and a bastardized version of VB and only run on NT and Solaris. In addition, they are pricey. If anyone is interested in putting together a team to make this happen for PHP, I can offer expertise on the Documentum side as well as a development environment with the DMCL available.
Even if you can even give pointers on how to bring outside libraries into PHP and define custom functions in the base install (perhaps with something like "--enable-documentum-4i=/path/to/DMCL"), it would be greatly appreciated and go far to get PHP accepted inside the firewall of many Global 2000 businesses.
