Resizing Jpeg Image

Hi Everyone,

On my development machine I use mogrify to resize an upload jpeg image. However, the site I develop now resides at an ISP that refuses to install ImageMagick as they claim it takes over 100 MB on the hard drive. My dilemma now is how can I resize an image someone uploads, if they refuse to rebuild php with the gd and jpeg components and they won't install ImageMagick.

Those guys are smoking crack! ImageMagick comes in two RPMs, which together weigh in at 1802k and 2822k. If they can't afford less than 5 megs of hard drive space to make a customer happy, I'd hate to think what kinds of problems these assholes are gonna be later on.

What are they hosting on, Pentium 100s with 700 Meg hard drives?

They indicated that ImageMagick will force the install of X11 and other graphic librarires which will take up the extra space.

Hi Gary,
Read your thread...I'm real sorry I can't help. The reason I'm writing is cos I've never heard of ImageMagick and "mogrify" and was wondering if it is a freeware or shareware? Where can I get my hands on it? And also, what is "gd"...I've heard it so many times but was afraid to ask, for fear of sounding stupid. How do you "rebuild php with the gd and jpeg components"? Aren't they installed along with PHP?
