sorry if i post again the unknown error

im sorry to repost the same problem of 2 day ago....
but i really need a solutions as soon as possible

mmm im trying to send an email but php stops me with an "unknown error"
i think the problem is of configuration and searching for it in the php.ini i realized that the web server totally ignore the file.... :
i did lots of changes but they are still ignored after several tries (service restart, server restart!!!!)
btw i get error if i try to set php as ISAPI so it works as CGI
any idea? because im finishing mine.....
btw i cant post the php.ini file.... but im starting to think that the problem is of some conflict with something in the server...

the server is a NT4svr Machine with IIS4 and PHP4.0.2 (i tried 4.0.3pl1 but everything went worst and worst.....)

I had the same issue and found that once you place (or make modification to) the php.ini in the system path you need to manually stop and restart all IIS services...

From a command line run:

net stop iisadmin

This will prompt to stop web, ftp and smtp if installed.. Say, Yes.

Once all service are stopped, start each service individually with:

net start w3svc
net start msftpsvc
net start smtpsvc

(No need to restart iisadmin, as it will restart on its own.)

Works for me, good luck.
