Is that any Text Editor for PHP ?? Or any suggestion ??

I used EditPlus (v2).. it has nice color highliting of code.. (and supports other languages like C, Perl, etc..). Very clean, overall. MUCH nicer than notepad.. hehe. (*nixwise.. I would have to say nano or pico.. I can't STAND vi.. 🙂

Regarding windows, Ryan mentioned editplus and yes it's nice. I prefer homesite from allaire. Zend is coming out (when?) with a PHP IDE that should be fun. People also seem to enjoy ultraedit. Regarding unix, it's emacs vs. vi(m) with the occasional joe and pico user but of course we all know Vim rules, it really does ... once you get past the initial steep learning curve. Search php mailing lists for "php editor" and you'll find a weekly conversation on this topic.

Visual Slick Edit is nice, from what I hear, and TextPad. (VSE has a *ix version I think)

I've used TextPad for a long time, writing mostly Perl programs, but I recently got Allaire HomeSite and it's a million times better for writing PHP. Its syntax highlighting is one thing, but it has at least a few other features not offered by TextPad. One notable feature that TextPad lacks is a built-in browser, which can be configured with server mappings if you're running a web server on your computer.

Is it fast ? Does it use a lot of resources?
Does it provide split windows and Macros ?

It's not particularly fast, but it isn't so slow that it makes a big difference and it's packed with features. It can record and play back macros. I'm not sure what you mean by split windows - it can have the window separated into different regions, one showing the file, one showing a directory of files to choose from, etc.

Personally, I use TextPad 4, with enlighting mode...

For PHP, HTML, Pearl, Basic, Java, Cobol, Pascal, C++...

I use Textpad as well its small and quick ad customizable with plugins, Allair Homesite is v.good but has a alot of functions I dont need and usually takes every bit of memory available ..

I recently bumped into PHPed from http://www.soysal.com/PHPEd/ It is an attempt to do a VB like GUI ...still has bugs But has a certain degree of intellisence (for commands only not parameters .. as far as I can Tell) but the link F1 for help to the php manual is good.

I would be interested to hear how others get on with PHPed as well!

Hi Lun,

You're prolly getting stomped with these but I thought that I would hold the Linux banner a little higher considering most (not all) fo the other posts are speaking of Windows stuff.

I like a program called Cool Edit. Tons of features and fantastice syntax highlighting that really stands out. Some of the other things that come with it are kind of dumb, but otherwise, it's a winner.

You could also check out Code Commander and Nedit. Both seem to do some really cool things are well developed (no or few bugs).

If you want a Homesite clone, check out Quanta. It's a KDE prog, but it will run in Gnome or whatever. I've used it under WindowMaker and Enlightenmnet. Tons of features like Homesite, but the text is difficult to read with little options for configuring. The highlighting is a bummer too.

Oh well, hope this helps on the Linux front.

SlickEdit is really cool editor for PHP an other languages, support intellisense and autocomplete (like Interdev from MS).

But there's another program to write our PHP code called "Komodo"...

Komod is shareware and a bit "slow" if you have less than 64mb RAM, but just prove it.

Whatever... I'm just using VI =) if you knows another PHPEditor just write please!
