I need some serious help

Im new to php and I have this site.. admin.php and I want it to log people in. I need a record somehow of the members who are able to log in and yeah.. when they log in, they need to be able to do stuff like publish columns. anyways, the prblem Im having is creating a db with mysql or php and I need some help. thankyou.

<sigh>. you need to specify some type of specific problem, otheriwse the best we can do is point out that thier are many columns archived on the site that deal with these issues, as well as code in the shared code lib.

well.... make it simple.. make a login page... from a list of people and their passwords say in an xsl or txt file.
