textarea help

Hi,

I have a text area, and want to display the contents of a field in a mysql database in it. How can I get line breaks to show up? At the moment they are showing up as actual line breaks, which interups the value="" expression.
ie

value="this is my text
so is this
and so is this">

textareas do NOT use value attributes, you just put the text between the open and close textarea tags like so:

print "<textarea name=textarea1>";
print $somebighonkingtextthing;
print "</textarea>";
