MySQL Access from another host

Hello,

I know this doesn't directly concern PHP but I'd like to know how I have to alter my PHP scripts so that friends of mine can access the mySQL database from their website...
Well, in my scripts I always use 'localhost'. My home page is www.wsjb78.com

Well, if I want to give a script to some friends of mine so that they can read data from my database, do I have to alter localhost to www.wsjb78.com ???

Yup.

Also, read the mysql manual about the GRANT statement because you will have to give the other users access to your database server.

it's not my database server.... and I don't think I have the priviliges to grant other users rights to the db. Is there some other way to work around this?

Nope. They can't get direct access from another machine if you can't give them the permissions.

OTOH, you CAN grant indirect access by writing a script that runs on your server that will grab the data from mysql and serve it back to their scripts on their server.
