Learning PHP from a Perl background

Hello All!

I come from, as stated in the subject, a background of Perl. I consider myself a fairly advanced Perl programmer, and would like to learn PHP. However, in my search for PHP tutorials, I have found nothing but beginner tutorials that spend three days going over the if-elsif-else construct - something I know a multitude about, thank you :-).

Therefore, I was wondering if anyone know of any PHP tutorials that are geared towards the verteran programmer, or even better, someone like me who know a lot about Perl. As I look at PHP, I notice that it is very VERY similar to Perl, and therefore I really would only like to learn about the important differences between the two.

I've never found a good tutorial for an advanced programmer for learning PHP. But I picked it up in about a week just using the manual and writting code for myself.

Comming from Perl (and I don't have an extensive Perl background) I'd think you're biggest problem is going to be over comming the flexability of Perl "There's More Than One Way To Do It". PHP is a bit more structured and C like than Perl, but it's very intuitive and easy.

I am a very experienced Perl programmer. I used to develop CGI scripts back in the day when that was pretty much your only choice for web backend. When PHP made its rise, I just looked at the manual and was able to find out everything I need to know about PHP. Rob is right, it isn't as flexible, but if you're accessing a db it's much easier.
