missing post reply data question

In reviewing older posts about the issue of when trying to view source I get a "Missing Post Reply Data" page instead of what's actually being displayed, it was
suggested to change the form type from POST to GET.

(for a netscape browser - which is what I"m using)
So I did that, but I'm still getting the same source page data. My form field is a ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" for a file upload. And even though I have the form set to GET, it's still displaying this Missing Post Reply Data page.

My question is two-fold:

Does setting the ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" and using a file input type FORCE it to be a form POST?
Why does this problem occur in the first place and
Is there a way to fix this problem. I'd like to be able to view my source code regardless of which type of form I use POST or GET.

Hi Janine, I'm wondering if you ever figured out the solution to this problem. I'm also getting this message in Netscape. When I changed my form to get my page remained blank, however, the code did contain my data as opposed to the error message. Please let me know if you have the solution. Thanks a million [stan]

yes, I was able to figure out the problem. I had to change a setting in the php.ini file. However, I'm not at my computer that runs php, so I'll have to get back to you with the exact line...brb

okay...here it is:

in the php.ini file, change the line that reads:

session.cache_limiter = nocache ;
(or what ever it is set to, may also be set to "private" or "public")

session.cache_limiter=;

and that should fix it, no matter what browser or what type of form upload you do.

I really appreciate the help. I couldn't access the ini file (i dont' have the access) however I was sucessful when I adding the following line of code to the document:

session_cache_limiter('private');

I also found out that I had a broken table in my echo statment which was breaking the page.

session_cache_limiter(\'private\') did not work for me too but then i used session_cache_limiter(\"nocache, must-revalidate \"); The must-revalidate did the trick: make sure it is before any session_start() or session_register().

I tried changing the session.cache_limiter in
my php.ini file and it changed from giving me the error of missing data to just a blank page. I tried the other suggestions as well and nothing seems to be working.

Basically, I have two forms on the page. I am posting on. It's enctype is multipart/form-data and it contains a file and some hidden fields. The file that I am submitting to is a file that works coming from other pages. It contains conditionals depending on what page I'm coming from. Any other suggestions? It just doesn't seem to be getting any of the form data sent....
