linux swap

I have installed linux but unfortunately the installation procedure did not create a swap partition... making the linux server runs slow... especially when I'm running X window (KDE). I thought, by default the installation would automatically create this swap partition. I was wrong.. Anyway, I want to ask.. if it is possible to create a swap partition without re-installing the linux system..?? ANy idea?

Only if you have some unpartitioned HD space.
Otherswise you will have to find a tool that can resize your defined partitions (risky at best)

Does you machine have so little memory that it needs a swap partition? Swap memory is much slower than real memory.

my machine is a P2 with 32MB RAM. Actually, I have my linux installed before with swap partition and it runs perfect. But when i re-installed the system ... without swap partition.. it slows down the operation. 🙂

32 mb does not make for pretty X sessions. If you can't upgrade the ram, don't run X, particularly if you're running the machine as a 'server'
