Form SELECT elements

Hi,

Does anybody know if I can change the font specification for just one element in a select

I have a dropdown like this

<option >a
<option >b

<option >c [open]
<option >d

I want to display a,b and d in black color text and c in italics with the "[open]" in red

The options are coming from a table printed using PHP.

Can anyone help here ??

look at the javascript menu.js script from developer.netscape.com. it can handle different fonts, colors, and even images in the menu.

there are a couple of other ones, some commercial ones, some free ones, but the netscape one is the only name i can think of right now.

Those are not form elements, those are glorified layers.

Nice, cool and usefull, but not a real form element.

it'll work with ie.

vincent is right in that html doesn't offer formatting of option elements, but you probably don't care how its done as long as the client sees a pretty little menu they can click on.

Apply class="" to the <option> in question. that should work for at least IE.
don't forget your (not so optional) closing </option> tag when doing your loop.
