pb using ftp_connect function

Hello,

I'm quite new in php and i'm experiencing problems using the ftp_connect funcion.

It looks like it's working as long as i use a host name as the parameter ("localhost" for my tests) but it won't work anymore if i put the IP adress of the server as the parameter for the connection (i.e. "127.0.0.1" for my tets again).

Is this normal?

How can i have it working since i want to use this function to connect to a ftp server that hasn't actually any name but only an IP adress ?

can you use the normal ftp command to connect to the adresses you use?

well actually i can connect to the ftp server using a standard ftp client and the ip adress, so i guess my pb is more due to the php function than to the connection itself.. but maybe i'm wrong?
