would anyone know any good freeware search-engine (or shareware but open source) that understand PDF and ideally MS Office documents? i have developed one in perl but it is pretty basic!

htdig is what you want i use mandrake 7.2 distribution and it's avaiable but not installed by default. there is udmsearch but i dont use it my favorite script language that i use to make the queries is PHP
Hi Know anything free with the same functionality that exposes a Java API ? I was able to find a few but none of them were free, not to speak of open source!!!
