.htaccess (blocking direct request)

hi,
i have all the images in my /images and my site uses all the images on the pages from this folder.

i dont want the users to simply point their browser directly to the image in the folder. e.g. /image/2.gif but only to view it from the pages itself.

there is a way to do this with .htaccess but what goes inside the file?
