Netscape vs. IE .....

Hello all.

I'm trying to find a way for Netscape to recognise Japanese text.

I downloaded the Japanese font from Microsoft, so as you can imagine it works perfectly when viewing the page in I.E.

Funnily enough it doesn't recognise the font in Netscape.

Can anyone advise me on what I should do ???

What about the stability, security,... & so on. If we're talking about the things that are secure, then MS IE is nothing but a toy - uncapable to do nothing useful. & then is even not willing to accept & recognise the OpenSSL. Is crashing very often... MS huh?!! Aghkkkkkk,... Can be used only for testing to see if it's capable to view the pages properly. ;-))))

Well all I know is most everyone uses IE thats why theres more securety prob's becuse more people use it more people find holes in it

theres just as meny in netscape

and stable I don't think so netscape is about as buggy as it gets

IE is built in to windows witch makes it faster and more stable

the only reson people like netscape is the love to hate bill gates (Just becuse its microsoft dosnt mean its bad)

I don't know why people get so heated about it IE is just better theres nothing anyone can do to change my mind

Aaaaa,... Is thaat so?!! Well my NS diden't crash even once till now,... & IE at least once a day,... try it with 20 o 30 windows opened at the same time,...

Wrong again. NS is an open free source,... & the other one belongs to a company that is monipulasing everything, & killing small & free minded companies.

It sure is your right to say that. Please try Mandrake first. You might get inlove in it. & If you'll gonna make a copy or two nobody is going to put you in preason, nor make you pay a penalty.

Are you talking about MS?!! Well if it's so, than you see that their politic is wrong. NS is under the community of the developers. With our OpenSSl you can have at least ten times more secure transaction that with a standard one. & it's free. Only the monopol guys would turn against that technology to pull it down & to make nothing but a egoistical proffit.

Please try to navigate with it & you'll see the difference. Take the last version, & you might like it. Can do things that IE can only immagine. & then is also more imune on viruses. ;-))) It's so easy to crash Outlook.

Try it at least. You might become one of our NS developers. You can never know. ;-)

I am using Netscape 6 (Just for checking compatibility !!)
it takes almost 5 minutes to load,crashes now and then ...
netscape and security ... whole world knows who had back orifice (Applet) problem ....

88% of the world uses (internet surfers....)
IE ....

Netscape cannot even process XML .. what kind of a Browser is it ...

Does it follow W3C standards ... till 4.75 it never followed .. where as IE does that ...

any comments ....

Support wise IE is better - in spite of being a Linux guy I'll admit it. IE has more extensive JavaScript support, XML, other features.

However, I use Netscape in Linux, because that is the only browser that I have available to me, and it does all I need it to do. It never crashed on me and it is always stable...

It makes me wander is it a browser that is a problem or may be it is a platform on which browser runs. I think that it is definitely a platform. Linux is stable - Netscape is stable... Windows unstable - everything else is unstable. Unless you are willing to dish out 250 bucks for Windows 2000, then your system will be pretty muh unstable. Windows ME (uhhhhhh.....) crashes on me at least 1-2 times a day when I use it to make flash applications...

My biggest prob. is when I spend 300 hours developing a perfect in every way site that looks great and then test it in Netscape its looks like crap

Every other browser looks great

But if I spend 300 hours on a site I have to spend at least 30 messing around with Netscape

Because its free and open source I guess every one can screw it up

I am just tired of having to build 2 stinking pages every time I want to use some cool scripts

Netscape6 is pretty much the first browser ever to adhere to W3C standards for displaying HTML. it's testy now, but only because pages are built around old crappy methods that are really workarounds for noncompliance in the older browsers. i dont think it's a sloppy program at all.

i agree... i run winME only because i have to use graphics apps that i can't get for freeBSD, which the rest of the office uses. i get constant crashes, they have nothing but stability. and they all use netscape (or konqueror...) of course microsoft browser runs great on a microsoft system. that should be a given.

this is not netscape's problem, it's probably your little miscalculations. i doubt your site is 'perfect in every way' if you can't see it 'perfectly' in one of the world's 2 major browsers. netscape requires you to close tags, nest tables according to W3C standards, etc. especially netscape6, it was built exactly for this reason. i have designed sites with HTML, javascript, php, stylesheets, audio, video, etc, and when netscape doesnt run the code it always means i need to clean it up. i have never had to create a seperate page! dig a little harder when you do your error-checking. IE is just more lenient on 'sloppy' code.
