I'm working on the same project more or less.
Personaly for me is not that important for the subscribing, as much as for the full & secure control over the web based mail manipulation. This is the base. If you have this than you can proceed & do the rest like a free web based subscribtion e-mail.
Unfortunatelly I started this project with asp,.. then I switched to php & I was also flerting with perl,...
Conclusion is very simple. I was trying to find a script like that that wouldn't cost more than 100 bucks,... unforrtunatelly I found scripts that were costing at least 400 bucks,... so I was looking for that in a community if somebody might be interested in developing something like that... All smoke, & no fish, if you understand what I mean.
If I could find only a script for a redirection alias mail would be more than just fine. This should be for a single account/domain only. For server... you already have it by default.
I found a thing that was called oMail in a devshed, but I already had an application like that installed on my server, that is working even better... so it was useless to me. At this point the best thing would bee to do it from a beginig, cause I don't wanna still the work of others anymore. I wanna understand how it really works. & as soon I'll get a bit more time (I just have to get rid of some responsabilities that I've right now) I'll begin creating it with the help of imap. It's very powerfull & as I saw it can even create those pop3 accounts too. I'm still trying to understand all the security aspects of imap.
I'll abandon that project in perl & do it in php,... It's nicer & you have more control over the code.
