Although I still don't think PhP is hot or anything, I applaud your passion for it. It's funny seeing so many computer cavemen get so inflamed by one posting. I think it only proves how right I am. So call me childish, or whatever you like, but it's true I must have hit a nerve.

Let's face it, you're working in the shadows of bigger and better things. The equivalent of Canadians to Americans, or Linux users to Windows users. You're antiestablishment hackers who think that you can do everything better if only it's done your way. The kind of computer cavemen that program assembly for fun; the geeks that other geeks like to call geeks.

And although PhP has room to grow, you glorify it as if it were the coming messiah- glorify it as it were the one true programming language. Let me take a moment to break this fable. ColdFusion programmers don't sit around using pretty WYSIWYG editors either. They are just as web-savvy, if not more so, considering the language has been around longer. The fact is, there's more money to be made in ColdFusion than there is in PhP. Let's face it, PhP is the poor man's ColdFusion.

I'll say this again. Without any language consistency, tech support, clustering support, or good database connectivity, it will never be as good as ColdFusion or ASP.

Get a life you sad troller.

I'm not the one who spends all of my time chatting on a tech forum.

        • [deleted]

No, you spend all your time on a tech forum trying to get people to fight you.

"The fact is, there's more money to be made in ColdFusion than there is in PhP. Let's face it, PhP is the poor man's ColdFusion. "

wow, how poor we are.. poor children uh ?

          get a grip..

You guys are such.. I don't know, I don't even care, and I don't even know why I'm bothering myself to write this.. but..

what's your problem ? I don't see people saying here nothing against ASP in the same way you do.. but you seam to love PHP, in such a way that you even bother yourself to come to a PHP forum and write stuff about it.. ain't it great ?

have you tried both sides before choosing ?

What is your proficiency level in php?

Since php is poor man's coldfusion, I guess apache is also a poor man's server? Just because something is free does not diminish it's value.

Your mention of Tech support tells me right away that you're one of those lazy admins who don't like to work hard for real knowledge. Sour grape! Since you found php to be too versatile for your liking, it's time to put it down.

We know you're not too good with programming, so in future, please do some upfront reading. Don't just lazy around and expect things to fall on your lap. If you can't do that, why not keep your sorry opinions to yourself. Got it?

            Richie.

Good programming makes a good user experience, not necessarily the toolsets - and most everybody has a preferred way of doing things.

Mellow out. You prefer to buy your solution. Fine. rm -rf / to ya!

              --ph

Let's stop making false acusations and point out facts.

                1) Php is the fastest growing language EVER.
                2) Open source is the future of the internet. Already proven with apache and linux, mysql and php are the next wave. If you disagree your ignorant. Even NASA has went from Oracle to MySQL. Apache is running on 59.99%( up 1.24 % from JAN ) of webservers on the internet, while MS is at 19.64% ( Down 1.76 % from JAN ).
                3) Microsoft is UNSTABLE (ex: Search the microsoft site for Security downloads for Win2k, and you'll end up with 1500+ results) I am not completly anti MS. I use MS for a personal OS but not for anything that demands reliebility. A section at www.securityspace.com shows the last 10 websites that fell victim to a hacker. 9 out of 10 ran IIS. Thats pathetic considering 3 times as many servers are apache.
                4) Judging by the fact you are going into a php forum to stir up @!#$ just shows how immature you are ( I would say no older that 23 - Therefor you are probably an in-experienced programmer. )
                5) ASP is a dying language. Let see what job all you asp fans have in 5 years. CF is solid. But struggling dot-com companies which at this time is all dot-com companies dont want to have to pay for all the server licenses and crap that comes with CF. All they need is a good programmer and they can accomplish the same thing.

In closing I would like to thank you for your extreme ignorance I hope to hear and enlightening response from you.

                  Dear Mr.CF freak.

Reading your impressive thoughts left me, well, kind of sore (mabye like you), but to put it in other words, I thing believing in something

and seeing someone behaving crap [you] makes me feel like working in a McDonald's and taking an order from a customer who isn't hungry, but came in to make a sore a** of himself.

Maybe try to read the [http://www.phpbuilder.com/manual/] php-manual alone in the dark, and think about your life, maybe look for a new job... like BurgerK*ng or something. really!

                  all others: why????

I would just like to interject here that what Adam Roderick wrote, was in my opinion, right on!
(except for #4, which I don't care about get into anyway)

Adam, I have a sad feeling that you are right, for the most part.

Being a former user of most of the aforementioned packages, it is sad to see the reality of some of these issues. However, the web is highly evolving, and PHP has been there to take the next step.

                    Thanks for listening.

simple answer to your stupid comments is this:

PHP is inherent to Linux. Linux means stability, dependability, scalability, and it is free. So for nothing I can set up a top notch operating system, top notch run-time compiled language engine (PHP)... basically the same set up would cost me a ton of money using Windoz platform.

If you are going to come here and slam down us who use and will use PHP - the least thing you could do is be somewhat objective. Give us some facts that would prove your point. All that senseless yacking of yours is just that - senseless yacking....
