PHP or HTML

Hello,

I am using include() function. The file I am including is simple html it has not any <? ?> tags but it has an extention .php3. Can somebody tell me if there is any difference in speed of parsing of the document when the extention is php or HTML. Does the PHP script interpreter handle the HTML documents the same way as php?

My concern is that if I will be able to speed up the preparation of html when I give the files right extention.

the only important extension is the one of the first PHP file called. for anything below it does not matter, as in your example. it does not matter if the file included has the extension php, inc, html or bin, if there is no <?php ?> inside, it won't be parsed.

using the include() function to include html will take up slightly more time as php must check the file contents for any php content. changing the file extension won't make a difference but loading the html file up using a different function might if the function doesn't try to parse the file.

php is pretty fast and you're not likely to see a big difference in loading the html using the include() function or loading it using something like the php file functions.
