index.php is not recognized !

Hi,

My problem is very simple however I have no clue how can I fix it ..

I want my server to search for index.php instead of index.htm or index.html.

As my main page is a php script page and I have to make : index.html that just direct to the index.php ..

Where can I change those settings ?

Please give me detailed instructions as I'm not expert in these issues 😉

edit apache's httpd.conf config file and add index.php after DirectoryIndex. for example:

DirectoryIndex index.html index.shtml index.htm index.php

You didn't say what type of server you are running. Brandon has the solution for you if you are running an Apache server. If you are running IIS 4.0 or higher in WindowsNT/2000 then you will want to do the following...

Go into the Windows 'Control Panel' and then into 'Administrative Tools' | 'Internet Services Manager'. Right-Click the default web server, usually 'Default Web Site', and then click 'Properties'. Click the 'Documents' tab. Click the 'Add' button. Type in index.php then clock 'OK'. You're done.
