Passing variables using radio buttons

Hi there,

I have a form that a user will fill out to play a game.

The game will be played on a certain subject that the user chooses so it must be passed to the next page.

The subjects are broken into categories and then topics.

My first efforts are trying to use radio buttons to pass this info to the next page, but I'm not sure if that will work because of how radio buttons work.

If I have 3 radio buttons in each category and my question is: How do I capture the category (I'm using the name of the radio button as CATEGORY 1 and CATEGORY 2)?

Radio buttons pass their information just like any other form element; check boxes, text boxes, drop-downs, etc.

You can verify what is happening using a METHOD=POST, which will encode everything in to a the URL for the next form to parse out.

I understand that. Maybe using radio buttons aren't the right way to do what I need to do.

I need to get the category and topic from this form to pass into the next page. Radio buttons are the neatest way to present it on the page, but as I said, it may not fit here.

This is how the form is laid out:

PUBLIC HOUSING (<-- category)
Public Housing 101-Basic (<-- topic)
Public Housing 101-Advanced (<--topic)

HCV (<-- category)
HCV 101-Basic (<-- topic)
HCV 101-Advanced (<-- topic)

Before each topic, I have a radio button. The radio buttons under the PUBLIC HOUSING category are named "Public Housing" and the ones under HCV are named "HCV". I not only need to pass the category, but also the topic.

Any ideas how to do this???
