where to host my board?

I wrote a very small php4/mySQL discussion board for Russian women living in Los Angeles.

Does somebody know by chance where I could host it for low cost (something like $5-$10 a month). I do not have domain name and address would be something like this:

http://182.382.48.382/larwomen and I will make a link to it..

The size of the database will not be very big since it has only one table, very few people would post there, and I am going to keep messages that are not more than one month old.

If somebody has DSL line at home and has http server/php/mySQL (or I can tell where to get it and how to install it free), maybe you could help me with the hosting?

There is no such thing like "free". For free they will put 10 blinking bunners on my page or a pop-up jumping out every other second.

If you don't want a web host's banners and/or pop-up windows on your site, you might want to consider just getting a regular web hosting account. Domain names can be had for $15 these days and for $19.95, a company called Ontime Online offers both Perl and PHP support with MySQL and generous disk space and bandwidth allowances. I know it's more than the $5 or $10 you are looking for, but it is a great deal. I have had a few sites hosted with them myself and I have encountered very few problems with their service. The staff is friendly too.

$10 for web hosting per month. SSH access, ftp access,Apache w/PHP4 and MySQL. I also run webalizer and can produce stats for your site at whatever interval you would like. I can also give you some ideas for DNS hosting.

If your site is not going to be big or frequently visited you can set it up yourself at your house, which is much better than hosting on somebody else's box.

What you basically need is a static IP address and something like DSL or CABLE. I know that telocity gives you DSL for 40 dollars a month plus they give a static IP address. You then can register a domain name and ask your registrar to resolve your static IP address to your domain name whatever that might be.

The rest is software configuration and you should be all set.
