Options & choices. Can PHP do that too?

Hi,

I was looking all arround the place & still I wasn't capable to find anything like that. There's no cart available in php that can handle options & choices, not to speak about the multiple options & choices. Is that true? I saw no cart like that at all. How can we do that in php?!! In pure php (no java script things - we're all capable to do that with js).

My question is:"How can we insert all those Option and Choices selections in
the php cart?" Can we do that?
For example something like this (like a price personalizzer) :

Can we do that too?!!

My second question would be:"Is it possible to do a cart with a html files
only (No mysql & php files, php files only for the price calculation, registration
etc. - to avoid the s. parsing - you know like in perl ). Please don't get
me wrong, I'm from Italy & here the connections are very slow,... the zend
engine is not installed on our server,... so no cache is available,... & our
templates are a bit graphical so a bit havy like 80K for template only
(medium italian connection is about 28K only). & then when is parsing everthing... (I made a test with a php file & graphics of 45 K & there's quite a difference in seconds actually 3 seconds more than a normal html) If you saw a solution like that, would you be so kind & share it with me, please.

How ever, I can only hope to find a solution for those option & choices things.

Of course. What you show here is just html, so of course PHP can write this (or any other html) as easily as it can do anything.

It's theoretically possible, I suppose, but I wouldn't like to try to make it work.

Can you give me a tip how to do it for those multi options & multi choices at the same time (that can calculate them at the same time & put them in the cart). Where did you saw that? Can you drop us a link please?

& why wouldn't you like to try to make it work in html via php?!! I see no reason to put everthing in a db & then to pull it out everytime. The connections will be faster & faster,... & with that system we'll get lazier & lazier. Come on why?!! Tell me!

However till I won't see that I won't belive it. I saw some of those pornstars that can actualy have sex better than a usual nonpornstar gall, but I saw no kids that belong to them. Can they really have kids? Are you sure? They might be steril!

1) yes ofcourse you can.

2) If PHP is 3 seconds slower than HTML, that means you have a very slow server. This has nothing to do with the line speed, because the total size of the page remains the same, so the time taken to download it stays the same. PHP can only be slower if it takes the server a long time to parse the PHP, which means you either have a very slow server, or you are writing some very complex PHP code.

HTML itself has no ability to remember anything from page to page. You'd need to use javascript to remember which products were selected.

I really don't understand what you're asking. You showed a page
full of html. PHP can write anything you want to its output, which
finds its way to the browser, as long as you can write it in plain
ascii text. This includes anything from html, javascript, java, css,
etc. For example, if you want an option, just write:

  echo "<option...";

This is conceptually no different from writing something like:

  echo "<b>bold face</b>";

You know how a pc configurator looks like (I'm gonna give you this as example otherwise we'll never understand)? You chose you mainboard, monitor, cpu, hdd, fdd, maouse, cd-rom,... & at the end you click & you get a complete price of a choosen computer.

So did you saw a cart that was able to do that kind of price personalisation in the same time?!! I saw 52 different php carts arround, & I repeat not even one with that option. Me not. I saw one connected with js. But that was a js engine not php.
If yes, please tell me where? I'm driving myself crazy to find it. I would even pay for a cart like that. Just to see what's in the code. ;-) I'm really gonna pull off all my hair.

I just don't understand how can you process all those multi calculations at the same time. Do you?

Wrong again. On oc12 the difference between a htm & the same php file is 0.5 second by about.com They say that you won't notice, but if you will measure precisly you will. That's why the experts are saying:"Please use html."

When you do a graphical cut work, there are tables. & I saw that those complex tables are parsed a bit slower than those normal.
& the file even didn't include anything (no include & no require). Only show data & time. & then when you visit the same page,... it's parsing it again. That's why I prefer html model. As I said I've no zend engine on it. & I like classical things. They're simple, but they work faster.

You can do it with a server cookie, & when you go to the basket (page in perl, this page is putting a cookie on your local machine when you visit a basket for the first time) the page is loking for your local cookie & it's id,... so after reading that server jumps to that server-cookie & dispalyes it in the browser. Perl works like that. You'll see no items things on your lokal machine cookie,... only the basket id.

Come on tell me just one, that in your opinion might be the best of the best. Which was good, & which was less secure?

What about something less db? You know for a solution like that I'm looking for? I'm sure that as a php hunter you know a lot about them. Which one you prefer to use?

Well tell it to a visitor of yours. ;-) Not sure that he will agree. I don't like loosing nobody. I wanna catch all visitor. & if this can make me nerves, I'm sure that can make even a customer that would like to buy something,... & thanks to that download you lose it. It's a very common thing in asp. ;-)

To tell you the truth. They recomend it even more than asp. & they use asp as you know. I was quite surprised. I even saw an artical that said that php can be even 50& faster than asp. More preciselly 0.86 with asp infront of 0.48 seconds with php. Perl in some cases even 0.18 Capish?

Sorry for my english,... but html is not a language. I thoght that at least that was obvious. It serves only to aline things in the browser. I expressed my self with wrong words. But at the end we understood finally.

2) You don't get the point. PHP is not responsible for slow download times, unless you use insanely slow code.
My simple P200 server creates database driven pages in 0.02 seconds or less. That does not affect download speed.

If you have a server where you need to fiddle about 0.02 seconds, you really are in trouble.

I'm not a chep mickey mouse m--- f---- that is testing the f---- php on the local machine. I hired a f---- server & I pay for it hundreds and hundreds of dollars monthly. I'm trying to jump from asp to php,... can you understand that?!!

WEB query is one thing, & the local another. Can your brain understand that?!! & I can asure you that our oc12 is very f---- fast.

If you can't help. Do nothing. Just ignore the f---- question. Who cares if php can't do certain things. There's perl that can do all that even better & faster! & latter when I'll enter into the php code I'll do it too.

If you can't or don't wish to help don't answer on the question please. There's no need to! & then I just can't understand that mentality of hidding things. Like those m---- f----s for encoding of the source code. Where the f---- did they learn that?!! From MicroSlot & the wothless Windowz?!!

The problem is not that complicated at all. We are all capable to answer on those simple questions like:" How can I include another file, how can I make my php as a default page,... nina nana, nana nina. & after that you can put your finger directly into your mouth, or to some other place if you prefer more."
But when you post a bit more complex but still simple question, they just have to appear & post a wothless answer that can only make angry another part.
If you can't understand the code example, than there's no reason to look for translator. I'm sure that than in this case for your logical mind even the psychiatrist won't be able to help you. When you see the code, you see everthyng. But probably some of you, is using an html editor (and if you use a front page I can asure you that what you see you definitively won't get thanks to microslot & it's worthless unstable applications "Where do you wanna go today? All our servers arround the world are free to enter!"), & did never learn the genuine basic html. If you can't read the code then paste it & save it in a file,... & the browser will read it for ya. Is that simple, trust me. Beginner can do such a thing, advanced user no.

& there's nothing beeing lost in the translation,... You lost the code in the first posting, cause you weren't capable to read it & view it in your mind as you should.
