PHP Authentication

Hi guys,

Sorry if someone answered this in the past, but I didn't see anything. I've also read through all the manuals I can find, so try to avoid telling me how great they are when you answer.

Anyways, my problem is this, I'm using the PHP Authentication on one of my pages but it never works. I've gotten around the HTTP 500 error by using the Status header, but I Keep getting the "Authentication failed" pop up box when I enter my password/username.

It seems like PHP_AUTH_PW and PHP_AUTH_USER aren't being set because when I try to echo them on the webpage nothing is coming up.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? I'm running Apache 1.34 and PHP4.0 on Windows98.

i haven't played around with php in windows, but i don't think that apache will make the apache AUTH vars available to cgi programs, only apache modules (php likely runs as a cgi under windows, just a guess).

ah, i'm correct. check out:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.http-auth.php

but there might be a fix. scroll down on the page to the third user posted comment.
