There are two functions that are inverses of each other, one is ord() which returns the ascii value of the character you feed it, and chr() which returns the character of the ascii number you feed it.
For a list of all ascii codes, on a linux, or other suitably modern unix boxen, type 'man ascii' from a shell prompt.
