having a php script download images

i have a php script that brings up a search box. it then formulates a POST method to another URL's .php search script on a totally different server -- and it will return the search string with 100's of [img src] urls in a variable.. but now my problem lies in this: how do i open each of those URL's and "grab" the image and store it on my server -- then put a link into my mysql database (i know how to put the link there).

so, can anyone help me out? basically, my question (clearly put) is: i need a way to process an array of URL's (that are all images) and save them appropriately named on my server (identical to right clicking "Save image as..")

Check out the fopen and associated calls.

fopen will accept a URL as an argument.

All you need to do is open 2 file streams:

One to the server for reading and one to a local file for writing, and then just fread and fwrite to each.
