Problem regarding random number

Hi all,

I'm writing some code which does a lot of password handling, and I need to be
able to generate truly random data.
Eg:if suppose type a password named phpbuilder, now i wanna to add some random generated number and added to the password.Suppose the generated random number is 25 it should get added to phpbuilder50.
What's the best way to do this in PHP?

And while you're reading it, remember that microtime() doesn't necessarily get updated every microsecond. :-( It's quite possible on a fast and/or lightly loaded machine to get two completely separate processes with the same value of microtime. Better to add the process ID into the mix; it's less likely (though still not impossible) that the same apache process can handle two completely separate web requests in the same clock tick.

I advise for you to go to www.linuxguruz.org and click on PHP tutorials. Scroll down, and you'll find nice and really short tutorial on how to generate random passwords. It's really great - no fluff, just the good stuff.
