php site?

Hi, does anyone know a free hosting site that allows php? And everything that comes with php? I need to test some phps and I don't have where 🙁

why dont you just install apache/php on your local computer and test it off localhost?

just a copy of apache (there is distributions for windows) and install on your pc at home. just get php and set it up with apache and your all set. That's basically what everyone does that doesn't have access to a server. Although I enjoy doing it on my computer since I don't have to upload files to test my stuff. Much more convenient.

Good question...maybe cause I don't have a clue on how to configure an Apache server on my comp? Anyone willing to help?

You can get free php space (with no ads) from:

www.f2s.com (quite slow, lot of downtime)
www.portland.co.uk (only 100mb monthly transfer)
www.datablocks.net (seems ok, I've had no problems with them yet).

You can download Apache, PHP and MySQL for Windoze from www.nusphere.com (all bundled together, so you won't (like I did) have to configure them all to work together!!)

With them set up, you should be able to type http://localhost/ in your browser to access the pages on your computer. You can also set up virtualhosts, so you could type yourname.datablocks.net or whatever, so if you use absolute paths, they work. (but doing that's a little hard, especialy if you have internet access on that pc, I don't so I just ran everything through 127.0.0.1 as a proxy, and Apache took care of the rest 🙂
