printing complex documents

Hello,

I need some suggestions regarding what way to go for printing complex documents.
I am creating a intranet software using linux/apache/php/interbase6 and now is the time to output that complex document, like a form with small letter and boxes, and the intent is to print not in client but within the laser printer in the server.

I don't know anything about latex and perl but since latex looks like a script language I am thinking in perl or php to create the output and than send it to the printer.

Is this a good way to go?
Any suggestions?

If you're going to create complex documents use postscript or pdf. With postscript you can just ship the whole document off to a postscript printer via a print queue and you're done. Unix print queues are pretty simple to set up, but too complext to explain right here. There's lots of howtos on the subject that will help.
