Host recommendations please?

Hi all
I need to change host.
I would like to have full /root access so I can mess with PHP.ini etc.'

I'm currently being charged $60 a month for 100MB plus a load of stuff.

The only real need other than access is good reliable email support.

I've been checking out HostRocket.com

I've not made a decision yet. They appear to be having some trouble with their upline provider or something (someone called VDI I think). They are working on it, and considering changing.

They appear to have pretty good support and have a very good package for the price. I don't know about root access though.

You can register to be on their community bulletin Board and see comments from current users regarding their troubles/successes.

We offer full root access for MySQL from $10.80 a month

And most php.ini settings can be changed using .htaccess but not root access to the server.

Good luck,

If your current provider is giving you root access at $60 a month, and thats what you need, then you had better stick with them. The only way you are going to get root access is to go with a dedicated machine.
